Celebrating the Mt Ousley Interchange Shared Path Bridge: A Community Victory

A huge win for the Illawarra community was achieved with the announcement of the shared path bridge over the Mt Ousley Interchange is officially progressing in the recently Fulton Hogan Update Newsletter. This success is an example to the unwavering dedication of local advocates, led by Felix Bronneberg and supported by the Illawarra Bicycle Users Group (IBUG), as well as community groups and IBUG champions like Ed, Emma, and Rhonda. Their efforts highlight the power of community-driven action. Thanks to everyone who has been involved and written letters of support.

With the shared path that was originally planned, being axed, it required tireless lobbying, organizing, and collaboration with stakeholders like The State and Federal Government and Fulton Hogan, the bridge became a reality. Felix and his team worked relentlessly, raising awareness, engaging with politicians, and ensuring that the community’s voice was heard. Their advocacy secured safer infrastructure for everyone and set a precedent for future community campaigns.
